Teeth whitening
During the years, pigments are absorbed into the dentine layer of the tooth (e.g. coffee, tea, red wine, smoking). This causes dark pigmentation and staining (yellow, grey) of teeth. Bleaching helps whiten teeth discoloration. Whitening is simple and inexpensive solution and may be appropriate in wide variety of situations. Side-effects such as sore gums and tooth sensitivity are kept to minimum when tooth whitening is performed responsibly. Periodic re-whitening may be needed depending on the patient’s habits.

Chipped tooth completion with composite
Veneers (composite or porcelain) can be used in a wide variety of situations. When tooth whitening isn't sufficient enough such as when serious discoloration is present, when the patient isn't interested in a periodic whitening treatments, for closing gaps between teeth, to hide imperfections in teeth like stains, to change the structure, position or as a treatment to complete chipped tooth esthetically.

Esthetic crown
When serious discoloration or serious damage to an anterior tooth is present caps may be better solution. There are different types of crowns (porcelain fused to metal, full ceramic crowns, captek crowns etc) some aid to provide better esthetics than others. The type of crown chosen does not insure an esthetic result. Even the latest technology will not yield an esthetic smile without a cosmetic dentist and artistic technician. Here is an example of a single tooth esthetic crown treatment. Rehabilitation of a single tooth is a very demanding cosmetically as characteristics of the adjacent tooth are needed to be copied. In this case a Procera crown was made.

Provisional stage - the tooth is capped with a temporary crown. I believe esthetics need to be good already with the provisional crown. The provisional will be used until the final crown is finished. |

Final rehabilitation – the crown simulates a natural tooth, yielding to an esthetic harmonious smile. |
